CANADIAN REPORT:
10/17/05 - The NYMEX petroleum complex was sharply higher this morning as
a rush of buying came in ACCESS trading. The latest storm brewing in the
Atlantic was causing concern amongst the trading community.
Crude oil was up more than $1 this morning at $63.92/bbl, with the
November contract trading as high as $64.28/bbl. Concerns that a storm
reaching the Gulf of Mexico would bring already slow crude production back to
a standstill and delay cargoes.
Refined products have also rallied this morning. Heating oil and gasoline
are roughly a nickel at opening bell. Supply concerns for heating oil heading
into the winter seasons, typical for this time of year, keeps sellers from
being too aggressive. Currently, November heating oil was up 5.4cts to
$2.004/gal. Meanwhile front month gasoline futures are up by a similar amount
last trading at $1.805/gal.
