Bringing prior operational and trading experience in natural gas and power markets. Mr. Andrus is responsible for the North American gas analytics practice that covers modeling of natural gas supply, demand, storage and price, including support of short-, intermediate- and long-term market outlooks. He helps clients to understand the relationship between physical and financial natural gas markets relative to the development of natural gas contracting and hedging strategies. In addition to his focus on gas market fundamentals, he specializes in the operation and commerciality of interstate pipelines and underground storage. He has contributed to numerous IHS Markit shale-related research projects such as “America’s New Energy Future,” and “Fueling the Future with Natural Gas.”. Previously, Mr. Andrus provided consulting services to the energy industry and helped start and manage energy trading organizations, overseeing natural gas trading and risk management, including short- and long-term hedging of gas production and fuel supply for full requirements power contracts. He participated in US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and Canada’s National Energy Board regulatory proceedings. He began his career with ANR Pipeline Company where over 19 years he held a range of technical and managerial positions in reservoir engineering, pipeline operations, facility planning, and business development. Mr. Andrus holds a Bachelor of Arts from Adrian College, a Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan, and an MBA from the University of Detroit, U.S.

Mr. Aoki joined Nippon Steel Corporation* in April 1983, and has been in charge of various businesses mainly relating to steel raw material. Earlier in his carrier, he served as representative of Nippon Steel U.S.A. in New York City in charge of steel raw materials, mainly coking coal and steel scrap.
In April 2011, he became Head of Raw Materials Division I, where he was in charge of Coal procurement and investment. Since then he has been responsible for various steel raw material businesses including iron ore, ferrous alloys and raw materials transportation, and in April 2018 he assumed the current position as Managing Executive Officer and looks after the whole steel raw material businesses for the company.

Dr. Bristow has been actively involved in the coal and steelmaking raw materials industries for over 30 years, with over 21 of them with BHP and BHP Billiton. During this time he has numerous roles in the Coal Divisions including technical and market research, strategy development and market planning and development, price forecasting and was Chief Analyst for BHP Billiton’s Carbon Steel Materials group leading the Market Intelligence group in Singapore. His expertise in steel, metallurgical coal and steelmaking raw materials, saw him as an early proponent of the rebirth of the global steel industry, the rise of China and of coal’s growth story, together with a strong belief in China’s emergence as a major seaborne coal importer. He has been a strong advocate for the BF and the continued rise of coke based steelmaking, coking and PCI evolution and analysis, and the growth of thermal coal.
In April 2009 he formed H&W Worldwide Consulting putting his strong market analysis and strategy skills to good use across bulk commodities. As an internationally recognised expert in areas of coal, steel and steelmaking raw materials; he has written and presented numerous publications at highly respected international conferences and meetings.

Bill Boyle is Vice President of Metallurgical Coal Marketing for Javelin Global Commodities. He has held various met and steam coal marketing positions over a 39-year career, primarily with CONSOL Energy and Arch Coal. New business development for metallurgical coal has been his focus for the last 15 years. He joined Javelin Global Commodities in January, 2017, when Javelin began development of a metallurgical coal portfolio.
Javelin made a major met coal move in December, 2017, combining forces with Revelation Energy to market 4-5 million tons per year of met coal. Javelin is continuing to build its met portfolio among all coal types on both railroads, and recently added James Meredith to handle European and Middle East marketing of met coal. Bill is now focused on met coal development in the Americas.

Tim Gardner is a Vice President of IHS Markit, where he leads strategic consulting for the power, gas, coal, and renewables global team. He has broad experience with industries operating in a transitional regulatory environment, including natural gas and electric power, as well as trucking, railroads, and passenger transportation. He has authored papers, presentations, and reports on subjects such as the patterns and dynamics of deregulation, information strategy, strategic portfolio management, capital planning, carbon emission regulation, and clean energy innovation. Tim was a Vice President and Senior Executive Advisor in the energy practice at Booz & Co. and a partner at Arthur Andersen, where he served as the overall coordinator of Arthur Andersen’s North American utility consulting practice and Director of Arthur Andersen’s National Utility Consulting Group. Tim holds a BA in political science with highest honors from Swarthmore College, an MA from Oxford University, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar, and a JD from Yale Law School.

Janet Gellici is Chief Executive Officer of the National Coal Council (NCC). The NCC is an Advisory Committee to the U.S. Secretary of Energy, providing advice and recommendations to the Secretary on general policy matters relating to coal and the coal industry.
Gellici has worked in the coal industry for about 35 years. She served as Chief Executive Officer of the American Coal Council (ACC), as Executive Director of the Coal Trading Association, and as Communications Director of the Colorado School of Mines’ Management Institute. She began her coal career when, as Public Information Director of the Western Governors’ Association, she worked on a multi-national study assessing the potential for exports of western U.S. to Asian Pacific markets.
In 2013, Gellici was acknowledged among the inaugural “100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining” by Women in Mining UK. She is a Certified Association Executive and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and as a Trustee with the Seven Seas Cruising Association Foundation.
Gellici earned her MBA from Regis University and is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in Journalism and Business Administration.

David Host was born in Newport News, Virginia in 1954, and was educated in Virginia schools, graduating from Hampden-Sydney College in 1976. In 1977, he joined the shipping agency established by his grandfather in 1923, T. Parker Host, Inc., as the third-generation of family leadership.
Since 1977, David has worked in all capacities within the company structure from Boarding Agent to Chairman & CEO. David continues to serve on many boards associated with the maritime and coal industry and has become a recognized industry expert who shares his wealth of knowledge through conferences, forums, and events. Having served as the Honorary Consul for Finland since 1996, David was decorated with the Knight, First Class, of the Order of the Lion of Finland by the Consul General of Finland in March 2018.

Bruno Luycx has been working in the coal market for nearly ten years. He started at EnBW’s coal desk in 2008 as physical coal purchaser, where he developed the company’s physical coal business from an end-consumer supply model to that of a trader-utility. In 2010 he set up EnBW’s freight desk. He is currently responsible for supplying EnBW’s coal-fired power plants and expanding the company’s coal trading business.
Prior to this Bruno was responsible for EnBW’s activities in international projects generating emission certificates, with a focus on the Far East.
Bruno studied law and specialised in maritime law at universities in Belgium, Italy and the UK.

Jim holds the position of Chief Commercial Officer for CONSOL Energy Inc., with responsibility for all of CONSOL’s coal sales. His previous executive responsibilities included sales, marketing, supply chain management, Fairmont Supply Company, land and operations.
Jim joined CONSOL in 1976 as a coal miner, and advanced progressively through operating and management positions at the Bailey and Enlow Fork mines, culminating in being promoted to mine superintendent at the Enlow Fork mine and subsequently at Mine 84.
Jim holds a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering and a master’s degree in Business from the University of Pittsburgh Katz Business School. He has been named a distinguished alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering.

During that time he has had a broad range of responsibilities including sales, trading, purchasing, and transportation/logistics with major U.S. coal producing companies as well as major power utilities. Mr. Read has been heavily involved in the export of U.S. Coal from the Pacific Northwest since 2009.
As part of his current responsibilities at Global Coal Sales, Mr. Read oversees Global’s long-term rail and terminal contracts and is heavily involved in the entire sales process from initiation to delivery for Signal Peak Energy’s coal.

Paul Reagan is the President of Sampling Associates International based in Hampton, Virginia, USA. SAI is a company specializing in the mechanical sampling of coal and coke and currently operates and maintains the mechanical sampling systems at multiple export terminals in North and South America.
Paul is a graduate of Brown University and has been with SAI since 1985. He has many years of hands on experience in the sampling and analysis of coal.
Paul is a member of the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) and currently serves as the chairman of the Task Group on the Mechanical Sampling of Coal and Coke – as well as the Chairman of ASTM Subcommittee D05.27 on Solid Mineral Fuels.
Paul represents the US as the Head of the American delegation to ISO Technical Committee 27 – and serves as one of the group’s sampling experts. In January of 2018, he was selected as the Chair of ISO Subcommittee 4 on Sampling.
In 2008, Paul was given the R. A. Glenn Award – the award from ASTM Committee D05 on Coal and Coke for “individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the development of ASTM standards related to coal and coke”. He is also the author of numerous technical articles on the sampling of coal and coke.

Chris Savage serves as Head of North American Coal for Jera Trading LLC, a Singapore based firm owned by Jera (two thirds) and EDF Trading (one-third), which specializes in coal, LNG and freight. Chris’ team is responsible for all exports, third party domestic business, and trading/optimization. The export program helps to supply a vast network responsible for procuring and supplying coal to Jera’s power stations in Asia and EDF’s European stations as well as numerous third party customers. Jera Trading supplies over 20 million tons each year to its stations and this demand is expected to grow to over 30 million tons in the next decade. In total, JERA Trading physically supplies over 60 million tons annually to its customers all over the globe.
Prior to joining Jera Trading in January of this year, Chris worked for eight years at EDF Trading where his business specialized in US exports of bituminous coal. Chris began his coal career at Constellation Energy Commodities Group managing the coal supply to Constellation’s coal stations. The core of Chris’ team has been together for almost 15 years and they have consistently been one of the more active and creative coal market participants.
Chris majored in history at Emory University and subsequently obtained an MBA in finance from University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. He is married with two children and resides in Baltimore, Maryland.

Mr. Jim Thompson is lead commentator for the Coal & Energy newsletter and editor of the US Coal Review. He is conversant on worldwide market trends, with a focus on the North American coal markets. Mr. Thompson provides expertise both in thermal coal for electricity production and metallurgical coal for use in the steelmaking process. He is widely quoted by leading financial newspapers and speaks at multiple, industry-related conferences. He has more than two decades of experience in providing analysis and insight on coal markets for coal producers and consumers, as well as for financial analysts and investors. Mr. Thompson co-founded Energy Publishing, which was acquired by IHS in 2013, and is now part of IHS Markit. He graduated from Dallas Baptist University.

Ernie Thrasher has more than 40 years’ experience in the coal industry. His coal experience began in 1974 working for a family owned mining company with operations in Maryland. Thrasher held various positions in mine operations and mine management through 1981.
Prior to forming Xcoal Energy & Resources in 2003, Thrasher spent 22 years in various global marketing positions at Primary Coal and AMCI.
Xcoal is the largest exporter of U.S. origin coal. In addition to marketing U.S. origin coal to customers throughout the world, Xcoal activities include the financing and development of mining projects and related infrastructure projects.
Thrasher founded XLNG Energy & Resources in 2015, which plans to market LNG originating from natural gas reserves in the Marcellus and Utica Shale basins in the U.S., to customers in South America, Europe, and Asia.
Thrasher serves on the Board of Directors of Barrick Gold Corporation, the President’s Leadership Council-Boy Scouts of America, is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and serves as a Director on the National Committee on U.S. China Relations.

T. Massey Coal Company. Paul earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the College of William and Mary as well as his Bachelor of Science in Mineral Engineering and Master of Science in Extractive Metallurgy from Columbia University’s Henry Krumb School of Mines.
