Renewables and the Impact on the West Coast

Renewable fuels undoubtedly have an impact on fossil fuels on the West Coast. However, there could be a symbiotic relationship as renewable natural gas (RNG) could be a product that makes a huge splash in transportation fuels to replace CNG and to help power refineries. RNG can be a panacea for a refiner’s stationary obligation under cap and trade. A bonus in that it RNG generates a D3 RIN credit.
