Brian Crotty is Executive Vice President and General Manager of Dow Jones Energy. He joined Dow Jones in February 2022 as part of Dow Jones’ acquisition of OPIS from IHS Markit. OPIS is a leading global data, analytics and information company serving energy and chemical markets. Prior to joining Dow Jones, Brian was an executive vice president at IHS Markit, leading their $900-million Energy and Natural Resources Group.
Brian has extensive experience in commodity markets and running news, database, SaaS platform and analytics businesses. From 2002 to 2015, Brian was CEO of OPIS, leading several acquisitions and ultimately the sale of OPIS to IHS Markit.
Before joining OPIS in 2002, Brian spent eight years as a vice president at Hart Publications, an energy information company specializing in magazines and advertising-supported events.
Brian is a journalist by trade, having spent his early years with OPIS covering downstream energy markets. He has a master’s degree in Journalism from American University and an undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University. He is a New York City native and now resides in Washington, D.C.

Linda oversees all of OPIS’s day-to-day operations including pricing, customer service for electronic products, newsletters and conferences, billing and technical support. In addition, she acts as a liaison between OPIS’s IT groups and business heads to ensure the success of new launches, product enhancements and changes to meet customer needs. Linda started with OPIS as a customer service representative and has held various positions before being named COO.

Over the past 20 years, Fred has developed the OPIS retail fuels database into the most timely, complete and accurate source of gasoline and diesel pricing available in the market. He has won multiple industry awards for editorial excellence and product development.
In addition, Fred manages strategic relationships with some of the most high-profile and largest consumer companies worldwide, including Apple, Google and Toyota. He is credited with creating a benchmark margin index for retailers that helps measure profit performance against an industry standard. Fred is a graduate of Monmouth University where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration.

Tom has covered downstream oil markets for over 40 years. A magna cum laude graduate of St. Francis University, Tom has a degree in English and has analyzed crude oil, refined products, and gas liquids for parts of four decades. He has also written commentary for Marketwatch and is a regular guest commentator for Bloomberg Financial Markets and NPR Marketplace. He provides unbiased and expert commentary for print and electronic media during times of oil volatility, and is regularly quoted in virtually every U.S. and international periodical.

Rich brings more than 20 years of industry and technology experience including a unique blend of enterprise software, business management, sales and operations expertise. His focus is on helping downstream petroleum companies maximize their use of software and technology when managing fuel supply, distribution and logistics.
Before joining OPIS, Rich was Vice President of Business Development for the Cedar Group, a UK-based publicly traded enterprise software and solutions provider. Rich’s prior experience included eight years as an accountant and consultant with KPMG Peat Marwick and Price Waterhouse (PWC). Rich is a CPA and a member of the AICPA. He is also a member of the AICPA Technology Committee. He holds a BS degree in Accounting from Bentley College.
John Howland is Senior Vice President, overseeing OPIS’ global spot market product portfolio and leading the McCloskey by OPIS business line. McCloskey provides market intelligence, news, price assessments/benchmarks and analytics/forecasts for the metals and mining supply chain with focus on thermal coal and steel making raw materials. Before joining Dow Jones, he was head of the coal, metals and mining business within IHS Markit and joined the company in 2007 through the acquisition of McCloskey of which he was a director.
Dewey Johnson is Senior Vice President & Global Lead of Chemical Market Analytics by OPIS, a Dow Jones company (“Chemical Market Analytics”).
Dewey is responsible for the global business, including insight and research covering the major chemical value chains including Aromatics and Fibers, Olefins and Derivatives, Inorganics (chlor-alkali, vinyls, and soda ash), Plastics and Polymers, and Syngas Chemicals (methanol, acetyls, and ammonia). Dewey is based in Houston.
Prior to Chemical Market Analytics, Dewey joined IHS Markit (through legacy CMAI) in 2009. His experience in the petrochemical industry covers all aspects of the business- financial, commercial, operations, research, strategy design and business planning, business development, as well as consultancy. Prior to IHS Markit, he was with Eastman Chemical Company, where he spent more than 25 years in strategic and commercial roles with various business groups and corporate functions. Dewey held management positions in commercial development, global sourcing, P&L for key businesses, market development, and market & strategic analysis of chemical markets and businesses. Dewey has led multiple complex engagements in strategy development and execution, global sourcing of Aromatics & olefins derivatives and industrial gases, business simulation & game theory and dynamic modeling, sales/ marketing, and business development. Dewey received BS and MS engineering degrees from Tennessee Technological University and Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He also earned an MBA in General Management. Dewey has been a frequent guest lecturer at MIT Sloan School of Management, UVA Darden School of Management, and SUNY at Albany School of Public Policy.

Michele has extensive marketing experience spanning more than 20 years working for a diverse portfolio of companies across various industries, including specialized consumer publishing, business information publishing, telecom data providers, and energy commodity pricing services.
As Executive Director of Marketing, Michele leads the global team responsible for marketing initiatives and strategies that drive growth and increase brand awareness for OPIS and its McCloskey, Axxis, PetroChem Wire and Chemical Market Analytics brands.
Her areas of expertise include digital marketing, lead generation, and customer engagement. Michele’s track record of success includes leading marketing teams to deliver impactful campaigns that have increased revenue and market share. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
