New business development director joins IHS Markit colleagues in Mexico City office
GAITHERSBURG, MD (February 1, 2018) — Oil Price Information Service (OPIS) by IHS Markit (Nasdaq: INFO), the first price reporting agency to calculate implied wholesale rack costs in the Mexican fuel market, today announced a new physical presence in the country.
Alexandra Kern, the new OPIS director of business development for Mexico, has joined 25 IHS Markit colleagues in the company’s Mexico City office, established since 1993.
“Ms. Kern’s move to Mexico demonstrates our growing commitment to bringing transparency to the fuel market there during a time of unprecedented change and government deregulation,” said Brian Crotty, who leads the OPIS business as senior vice president of energy for IHS Markit. “Full-time personnel ‘on the ground’ in Mexico will enable OPIS to remain ahead of market developments and continue to bring clients the most timely news and analysis as reforms transpire.”
OPIS has been informing clients about the deregulation in Mexico since 2015 through multiple conferences in Mexico, such as the upcoming OPIS Mexico-U.S. Petroleum Summit. In 2016, OPIS started providing unbiased rack market pricing in Mexico and soon expanded its coverage into retail fuel pricing. In March 2018, OPIS will begin publishing a free dual language magazine devoted to the Mexican fuel market entitled, Combustibles en México.
